Cake batter

200 g butter, soft
180 g sugar
1 pinch salt
4 eggs
2 dl milk
400 g white flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp bourbon vanilla powder

Chocolate mixture

100 g chocolate, crumbled
water, boiling

How it's done

Cake batter

200 g butter, soft
180 g sugar
1 pinch salt
4 eggs
2 dl milk
400 g white flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp bourbon vanilla powder

Place the butter in a bowl, add the sugar and salt, mix. Add the eggs one at a time and continue to whisk until the mixture becomes lighter in colour. Mix in the milk. Mix the flour and baking powder, stir into the mixture. Divide the cake batter into two portions, mix the vanilla into one half of the batter.

Chocolate mixture

100 g chocolate, crumbled
water, boiling

Break the chocolate into pieces, place in a bowl. Pour the hot water over the chocolate, leave to stand for approx. 2 mins. Carefully drain the water, stir the chocolate until smooth, stir into the other half of the batter.

Marble cake

Line the loaf tin with baking paper. Transfer the light batter to the prepared tin, spread the dark batter on top. Using a fork, stir in a spiral motion to create a marble effect through the light batter.

To bake

Approx. 1 hr. in the lower half of an oven preheated to 180°C. Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, remove from the tin and leave to cool completely on a rack.
