How it's done

Egg mixture
Beat the eggs in a shallow dish. Add the milk, vanilla sugar and salt, mix well.
Bread
Cut the bread into 12 slices, place in the egg mixture, allow to soak for approx. 10 mins. Turn the bread slices over and leave to soak for a further 10 mins.
To fry the bread
Heat the clarified butter in a non-stick frying pan. Reduce the heat, fry the bread in batches for approx. 2 mins. on each side until golden brown. Mix the sugar and cinnamon on a plate. Turn the hot bread over in the mixture.
Serve with: | Apple sauce or stewed pears or plums. |
