Dough

150 g butter, soft
140 g icing sugar
1 parcel vanilla sugar
1 fresh egg
300 g white flour
¾ tsp baking powder

To decorate

100 g icing sugar
1 ½ tbsp lemon juice
some chocolate buttons
1 icing for writing, black
some sugar sprinkles

How it's done

Dough

150 g butter, soft
140 g icing sugar
1 parcel vanilla sugar
1 fresh egg
300 g white flour
¾ tsp baking powder

Mix the butter, icing sugar and vanilla sugar using the whisk on a mixer in a bowl, add the egg, mix in. Combine the flour and baking powder, mix in to form a dough – do not knead. Shape the dough into a ball, flatten a little, cover and chill for approx. 30 mins.

To roll out the dough

Roll out the dough in batches between two sheets of baking paper to a thickness of approx. 4 mm. Cut out circles approx. 6 cm in diameter. Place on two baking trays lined with baking paper.

To bake

Approx. 9 mins. per tray in the centre of an oven preheated to 200°C. Remove from the oven, leave the biscuits to cool on a rack.

To decorate

100 g icing sugar
1 ½ tbsp lemon juice
some chocolate buttons
1 icing for writing, black
some sugar sprinkles

Mix the icing sugar and lemon juice to create a thick icing. Coat the biscuits with the icing. Draw lines on the biscuits using writing icing, decorate with chocolate buttons and sugar sprinkles.

Good to know
Note: Prepare the biscuit dough 1 day in advance, cover and keep in the fridge.
Tip: These biscuits also taste delicious without any decoration.
