Dough

500 g white flour
1 ¾ tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
½ cube yeast (approx. 20 g)
50 g butter
3 dl milk

1 egg
32 corn kernels, tinned, drained

How it's done

The kids can help at the marked areas .

Dough

500 g white flour
1 ¾ tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
½ cube yeast (approx. 20 g)
50 g butter
3 dl milk

Mix the flour, salt and sugar in a bowl. Crumble the yeast, mix in. Cut the butter into cubes, add. Pour in the milk, mix and knead into a soft, smooth dough. Cover the dough and leave to rise for approx. 1½ hrs.

To shape

a little butter

Line the base of a springform pan with baking paper, grease the sides with a little butter. Divide the dough into 16 equal portions, shape into balls, place next to each other in the prepared tin. Cover the dough balls and leave to rise again for approx. 1 hr.

Chicks

16 dark sultanas
1 egg
32 corn kernels, tinned, drained

Cut the sultanas in half. Beat the egg, use to glaze the dough balls. Using a wooden skewer, make little holes in the dough balls, press half a sultana into each for the eyes. Make another hole in each dough ball and press in 2 corn kernels for the beak.

To bake

Approx. 30 mins. in the lower half of an oven preheated to 180°C. Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, remove the tin frame, leave the buns to cool on a rack.
