Dough

500 g white flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
½ cube yeast (approx. 20 g)
2 ½ dl milk
100 g butter, cut into pieces, soft

Bunnies

1 egg
2 tbsp decorating sugar
8 sultanas

How it's done

Dough

500 g white flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
½ cube yeast (approx. 20 g)
2 ½ dl milk
100 g butter, cut into pieces, soft

Mix the flour, salt and sugar in a bowl. Crumble in the yeast, add the milk and butter, knead into a soft, smooth dough for approx. 10 mins. using the dough hook on a food processor. Cover the dough and leave to rise at room temperature for approx. 2 hrs.

To shape

Quarter the dough, shape ¼ into 8 small balls for the head, shape another ¼ of the dough into 8 ovals, cut lengthwise using scissors, shape into ears. Divide the remainder of the dough into eighths, shape into balls for the body.

Bunnies

1 egg
2 tbsp decorating sugar
8 sultanas

Assemble the bunnies on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Cover the bunnies and leave to rise at room temperature for approx. 30 mins. Beat the egg in a small bowl, use to glaze the bunnies. Sprinkle sugar crystals over the bodies. Halve the sultanas, press into the heads as eyes.

To bake

Approx. 15 mins. in the lower half of an oven preheated to 200°C. Remove from the oven, leave to cool completely on a rack.

Tip: These round rolls make for delicious bread buns at any time of the year.
